Tucson Art Walk (The Gallery at 6th & 6th)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

10 Central Tucson galleries kick off the 2006-2007 contemporary art season in the 7th Annual Big Picture celebration Saturday, October 7.  Each gallery will be open for public viewing during the daytime and hosting special artists’ receptions in the evening.  The Art Shuttle Bus  will be running from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM connecting the galleries which are located in the Greater Downtown/University area, first stop near  the corner of 6th Street and 6th Avenue, from where 5 galleries can be reached by foot.

The Big Picture is first in a series of 3 annual events sponsored by the Central Tucson Gallery Association throughout the season, followed by Art Safari in February and the Summer Art Cruise in June.  A wide-ranging array of original art will be presented, from fine paintings and sculpture, to prints, photographs, clay, fiber, glass and unique objects d’art.  Many of Tucson’s top contemporary artists will be present.  This a family-friendly event and all activities are free including Art Bus transportation.  Refreshments will be served at the evening receptions.  Maps and schedules of gallery hours and locations and exhibits will be available at the participating galleries and the offices of the Tucson/Pima Arts Council at 10 E. Broadway Blvd.
