BIOGRAPHY

Marty Falconer, Clay Artist

Marty Falconer was born in Rochester, Michigan, but in the 1970’s her family moved to Arizona for health reasons and she has been enjoying her surroundings ever since.  She graduated from Catalina High School.

Working creatively was in Marty’s family.  Her grandfather was a sculptor in Liverpool, England.  He was commissioned to work on the gargoyles that are so prevalent on buildings in the United Kingdom.

Following a divorce in the 1990’s, Marty was searching for an outlet for herself that would provide both therapy and income.  She began working at a studio and found that she loved working with clay.  At that time, she had a Bengal cat named Julian.  Julian had quite a good personality and she was inspired to mould cats in various poses and doing what cats do:  catching mice and being curious!  Marty enjoyed the Bugs Bunny cartoons and sculpted most of her pieces with the humor that is so prevalent in those animations.  Her pieces make you feel light and happy when you view them – that humor comes through!

Another interest of Marty’s has been the desire to help people who are in health crises.  She became trained as an Emergency Room Technician and she is called upon to work in the hospital and medical centers in Benson, Arizona.

You may see and purchase Marty’s delightful clay creations at Feminine Mystique Art Gallery, in Tubac, Arizona.  Tubac is an art community located south of Tucson and Green Valley via I-19 at Exit 34.  It is a wonderful place to spend a day or weekend enjoying art of all types.
