Jerome Art Walk's 1 Year Anniversary (Gallery 527)

Jerome Art Walk celebrates one year Anniversary

Joanna Pregon of My Mind’s Art faces her faces.

In one short year, Jerome Art Walk has developed into a top event in Northern Arizona. It was the #1 pick for Weekend Getaways by Phoenix Magazine and has been chosen by The Arizona Republic as #1 "Break away for a day" destination for Valley residents. This growing event is maturing into one of the best Saturday night venues in Northern Arizona.

The 30 galleries and studios have enough ever changing art, music and talent to keep people returning for more. The incredible variety of art in this quaint mountain town is just astounding. Jerome restaurants have been hosting special events throughout the past year and actively participating in the overall mix of a fun filled night.

September 1st, Labor Day Weekend 2007, will be another great Art Walk in Jerome. From the Old Jerome High School, filled with working studios like Vicki Day Designs, creator of art-to-wear clothing and handbags, and uptown to the venerable long-time pottery studio of Jane Moore and David Hall, Jerome will be exploding with openings and happenings.

Joanna Pregon of My Minds Art is the artist in residence of one of Jerome’s newest galleries, sharing her space with talented landscape photographer Tom Narwid. Her dream-like faces, forms and shapes are an expression of her inner psyche. Harmonious colors and interesting composition, many times using the female face or body in the painting, create a fluid representation of the artist’s inner world.

Spirit Art Gallery will feature one of The Verde Valleys’s best, Ramona Stites and her contemporary southwest landscape paintings. Elegant statements that reveal the jewel-like colors of the desert are the signature of this talented artist. Dave Renz, well-known Verde Valley musician, will be on hand with not only his collection of fascinating instruments but also will be showing his "Found Objects with Painted Dots" including a guitar and a mailbox. These one of a kind pieces are whimsical, detailed and totally original.

The Jerome Artists Co-op will open a new show called "Piece by Piece".

Sid Freeman, a master of calligraphy and stone inscription will be on hand with fellow artist, Jeanine Sutherland and her Glass Mosaics. The show runs through October 11th.

Gallery 527 features new work by Ninfa who has just returned from a summer in her native Columbia and has painted the running of the bulls.

Carrie Slade will be performing from 5:00-8:00PM.

New works are at the old Jerome High School from Plein Air Painter Mark Hemleben who spent six weeks this summer in London, the English Countryside & The Outer Hebrides, giving the usual Desert Pallet a touch

of Moss & Green for variety. On display are a number of the paintings

completed abroad plus a few inspired by the city of London, finished since he returned.

The Fool on the Hill- a gallery of wonderful things- celebrates the first anniversary of Art Walk with a fabulous pre-Fall showing of new work by designer Christy Fisher. Be among the first to see the fabulous new collections of patchworked clothing, knitwear- and jewelry, of course-that is the trademark of the Christy Fisher Studio. Join us for sunset on the porch with hors d’oeuvres and music.

In conjunction with the September 1st Jerome Art Walk, Pura Vida Gallery is honored to present an exciting evening with glass artist and former Sedona resident Robin Evans.

Robin will be returning to the area for a special showing of her newest sculptural kiln formed glass objects. Whether the piece is for the floor, table, or wall, Robin’s emphasis is on color, movement, and meticulous attention to detail. Robin has been highly recognized for her work, and was recently honored as the recipient of the highly coveted Niche Award for her glass art.

In addition to being on hand Saturday evening from 5-8pm for an incredible champagne and chocolate reception, Robin will be available all day Sunday for appointments. Bring your home décor colors, and allow Robin to custom create a one of a kind piece for your home.

Be sure to join us for an exciting evening! Pura Vida Gallery is located at School Street in Jerome, just three doors down from the Red Rooster Café. (634-0937)
