Copper & Clay at Javadog Gallery
![]() Fall is here and what better way to celebrate than with an artist reception at Javadog Gallery for two very talented artists?
One of those artists is John Delventhal, a Cornville resident. He has been showing his work for a little over a year at Javadog Gallery. John’s beautiful copper panels echo shapes and images found in nature such as leaves, stems, plants, flowers and the like. Using a variety of techniques that he has developed John is able to create a variety of shades of blues, greens, and oranges that set up beautiful contrasts against the deep, rich copper tones. His panels can be displayed unframed or framed and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. John’s love for what he is doing really shows and he will be the first one to tell you that the process of making these art panels is what really drives him.
Kat Strickland is a long time resident of the Verde Valley and has been a working artist for many years. Her current work is in clay and mixed media, although Kat has worked in various media over the years. Much of her work is whimsical in nature. Her story bowls, small vessels with charms along the rim of the bowl, tell a story and sometimes reveal a poem that is tucked inside. Her larger mixed media pieces, usually clay, beads and a variety of other found objects follow a theme and are usually highly symbolic in nature. Her primitive approach to clay can also be a simple modern statement done in natural colors such as in her earthenware piece “pitcher”.
Copper and Clay will hang from November 8th through December 8th. An artist reception will be held on Saturday, November 10th from 4pm to 8pm. Ramona Stites, owner and featured artist will be there as well with all her current work. To contact, call 928-631-5217 or go to www.javadoggallery.com.
