Tucson, AZ—Mountain Shadow Gallery is pleased to present new works by Santa Fe Sculptor Destiny Allison from February 22, 2008 through March 10, 2008. There will a reception for the artist on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 6pm to 8pm. The artist will be attending the event.
Over the past decade, Allison’s unique sculptural theory and technique have captured the attention of the art world. In her new work, she continues to explore human relationships, roles and symbolism.
The exhibition will include works in steel and bronze. They range in height from three to seven feet, and include both freestanding and wall-hanging pieces. Allison’s combination of techniques and exploration of symbolism results in geometrical arrangements with strong lyrical influences suggestive of hypnotic melodies.
“I am fascinated with the exploration of the human experience through the process of relationships,” Allison said. “Through my work, I explore questions pertinent to my life experience – my interactions with the world and with others – in an attempt to glean both understanding and peace. I deeply believe that what is human is complex, rich and beautiful, and I hope, through my work, to help rebuild a framework in the art world for both beauty and the best of humanity.”
Her commissioned works can be seen in schools, churches, museums and government buildings across the country. Allison is currently represented by renowned galleries in Santa Fe; Houston, Dallas, Tucson, Baton Rouge, La., Big Fork, Mont., Oklahoma City, Oak Park, Ill. and Middleburg, Va. In addition, her work is seen in nationally acclaimed, juried art exhibitions. In the past year few years, she has installed major public works in Clinton and Edmond Oklahoma, was nominated as president of the board of the New Mexico Sculptors Guild and received four awards of excellence for her innovative work in steel.
Mountain Shadow Gallery is located at 3001 E. Skyline Drive, Suite 109, on the NE corner of Skyline and Campbell, and is open 7 days a week, Monday thru Sunday from 10am to 6pm, and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
