BIOGRAPHY
Marilyn Beasley, Artist
Feminine Mystique Gallery, Tubac
Marilyn Beasley hails from Rome, N.Y. Her interest in art goes back to a time when she spent several years in Japan and studied oil painting at the Harada School of Art. She attributes much of her development in art to Mr. Harada’s influence.
In the late 1950 Marilyn returned to the states to raise a family and her art was put on the back burner. She did take several workshops but she is largely self-taught. Marilyn found that watercolor took her fancy and she began, in 1994, painting every day and soon developed her own unique style. Her haunting portraits speak to us of the duality of life the dark and bright moments the tears and laughter of the human experience. When she paints florals, she uses riots of color that reflect the joy nature brings to her spirit. Often she begins with watercolor and finishes with the vibrancy of acrylics adding more layers.
Marilyn is an award-winning artist. Her paintings have been shown nationally, and are in many private collections. She is a signature member of the Southern Arizona Fine Arts Guild. She feels that art is about life and life is art. There are three colors that Marilyn feels are central on our planet and maybe the universe: red, yellow and blue!
Currently, Marilyn is exploring abstract art and, once again, vibrant color is of prime importance in her works. Her beautiful and exciting paintings are displayed and sold at The Feminine Mystique Art Gallery, in Tubac, Arizona. This interesting gallery specializes in the art of women.
